Welcome to Second Grade at Chapel Hill Academy!
The children in second grade will be actively involved in all aspects of learning. They will explore and discover many new concepts in Science, Social Studies, Math, Reading and Writing, following state guidelines. Our main focus at CHA is building literacy competence.
As a second grader, your child will be reading and writing about many different areas of interest. We believe that children learn to read and write by engaging themselves in the reading and writing processes. All children come to school with reading and writing skills in different stages of development. Through nurturing and reinforcement, children begin to blossom into successful, confident readers and writers. The more a child reads and writes, the better he/she will read and write, and learn. We will be involved in many hands-on activities to explore language, science and math concepts.
A parent’s involvement in their child’s education has proven to be a key factor in the child’s success in learning. Through your support and encouragement at home, your child will experience success at school. We have high expectations for good behavior at Chapel Hill Academy, in order to create a positive learning environment for all students.
Also, homework is an integral part of your child’s education and it will be provided in the daily Responsibility Binder, Monday through Thursday.
We are dedicated to growing each child into a successful lifelong learner. Together we will exceed these expectations!
